A CRM full of names and email addresses is only half useful. To prioritize leads, personalize outreach or route a form fill to the right person, you need to know more: the company's size and industry, the person's role and seniority, sometimes a direct phone number or the software the company already uses. Data enrichment tools fill in those gaps, either by matching your records against their own database or by finding the details on demand.
There are a few kinds of tool here. Large B2B databases let you search for companies and contacts that fit your target profile, export them and keep your CRM records up to date. Contact finders look up a specific person's work email or phone number, often through a browser extension. Data APIs deliver person and company data to developers building their own products. Newer tools combine several providers and AI research in one table, filling each gap from whichever source has it.
Coverage and accuracy vary by region, industry and company size, so a provider that is strong for US technology companies may be thin for European manufacturers. Before you buy, give each provider a sample of a hundred records you already know well and compare what comes back. Look at how many fields were filled, how many were wrong, and how many emails bounced.

Enrichment works best as a habit rather than a one-off project. A database that was accurate when you bought it goes out of date as people change jobs and companies grow or close. Many teams enrich new records as they arrive, refresh key accounts every few months, and flag bounced emails and wrong numbers back to the provider. Decide which fields actually change what you do, such as company size for routing or job title for messaging, and enrich those rather than filling every column.
Contact data is personal data. Check that the provider explains where its data comes from and how it handles privacy laws such as GDPR, and that you have a lawful basis to contact the people you enrich. Keep enriched data accurate, honor deletion requests, and don't store more about people than you need.
The providers below range from large prospecting databases to email finders and data APIs for developers. Start with the one that covers the regions and industries you sell into, and test it on a sample before you enrich a whole CRM.
Adding missing details to records you already have, such as company size, industry, job title, email or phone number. It helps you decide who to contact first and what to say to them.
It varies by provider, region and company size, and data goes out of date as people change jobs. Test a provider on records you know well, verify emails before sending, and expect to correct some fields.
It depends on where the people are and how you use the data. Privacy laws such as GDPR set conditions on processing and contacting people. Check the provider's compliance information and your own lawful basis before you start outreach.
Many tools enrich new records as they arrive, for example when someone fills in a website form. The listings show HubSpot and Salesforce connections where we have confirmed them.
